I am titled

Yesterday I went, as usual, to the Sociology Association?s weekly meeting. It was raining heavily. That was probably the reason that only two non-board members show up, including myself. Which is kind of a shame, considering that there was a guest speaker form ?Teach for America?. She had a presentation prepared, but didn?t do it with so many people present. Nevertheless we all got a pen and a brochure describing this organization. After she left the board members started their meeting that they usually held right after the public meeting. I was still lingering around, mainly with the purpose of asking them to send me any and all information of the Association so I could put it up on the website. Then suddenly one of them had the idea to give me the official title of the webmaster and recommended me to become a board member. After another member seconded the motion and I had to leave the room for a few minutes while they discussed it and voted. So now I have an official title. It will show up on my academic resume when the time comes to apply to graduate school. One of the events mentioned was today?s fundraiser. A local restaurant agreed to donate 15% of the proceeds of anybody who eats there today and brings our flyer or mentions that s/he is eating for the Sociology Association. However this event was not publicized well enough. Therefore this morning I asked and got permission from the professor to announce the fundraiser at my History class. I can?t even recall the time, when was the last time I stood in front of hundreds of people and talked to them from a theatre stage. Maybe never? I was short and to the point and hopefully professional.
