Some Good Grades

I mentioned two weeks ago some bad grades (B+). So now I am obliged to report the latest results. All As. Including a History paper on Lincoln’s Pragmatism. (With the TA’s comment: “I enjoyed reading this!”) This was particularly satisfying, because on the previous paper I got a worse grade and some comments. Apparently they helped me to improve my paper. Not to mention that two people read it besides me before I handed it in. (Thank you.) I also just got back my 4th Sociology assignment in the series of 5. I got the maximum point for all of them. I had put the most work in this last one. I spent about 7 hours looking for journal articles related to my research topic. Then I read carefully three of them on 2 hours. Then I wrote my 3+ page overview in 90 minutes. And what do I get for all of the above: “Excellent!!! You’ve done a good job of showing me how you’ve integrated the literature into your thinking on the concept of immigrants and social capital!” I got no comments, but 96 point on both my Judaism and my Film/religion midterms. I wrote two short essays for both of them. My Judaism essays were valued at 48 point each. My first film essay was at 50, while the second at 46. I predicted that this would be lower, but I thought it will be even less than this.I am less and less worried about the final. For the History class we wil get the essay questions in advance. Besides writing two essays we will also have to identify 5 short pieces and explain their significance. Considering that I did all the readings it won’t be a problem. For the Sociology final we will get a review sheet. And the final is supposed ot be easier than the midterm was. I know fewer details about the Judaism and Film/religion classes’ finals. But I feel even more confident in my knowledge in these subjects, because I am more interested in them.
