Yet another missed 80s teen movie. But this is funny and fast paced. It’s a romantic comedy, where the beauty dumps the protagonist John Cusack character, because he is not popular enough. But he discovers the ugly duck in a French student and makes better of the situation, finding the real values along the road. Cusack is so good at playing miserable insecure folks, he did it lots of times. The girls are cute, so are the boys, the dorks are dorky and the jocks are arrogant. The exaggeration level is so high that it might even be a parody of high school life. It worked for me. Ultra light, but fun.
