
I saw the first part on DVD on my own. It took me 44 minutes to watch the 111 minutes video. I just fast forwarded the bloody (an body) parts, as I don’t care much for that. The ratio shows you how much is left if you do that. I watched the second part a few months later with 2 guy friends, after we cooked a nice dinner together. At least I could put together the story then. Style-wise the movie is great. The yellow, the desert, the bar, the villains, the heroes, the swords, the music, all carefully and finely crafted. Like the cartoon sequences. But there is nothing beyond the style in it for me. And i wonder how much of the style was lifted form Asian martial art movies and comics that I am not familiar with. The “Bang-bang” song still echoes in my head, and some of the images are way to easy to recall. It’s that catchy, but for what?
