Here is a report from Common Ground News Service on a “four-day conference on peace education” in Turkey with 200 Israelis and Palestinians, organized by the Israel-Palestinian Centre for Research and Information. Just like any conference it had workshops, discussion, dialogue, presentations, more than 150 of the above. Just as important was the compassionate listening and experience sharing. The paper paints a good overview of the event and summarizes it as “a platform for a mutual cry of pain for the two anguished nations and a pledge to never give up.” But look at the title and the subheadings, aren’t they promising: Learning to celebrate diversity, Changed circumstances, Sharing experiences, Finding the words, A beginning made, Frank and honest, Glaring asymmetry.
