The Jewish Standard at NYU covered a controversial topic yesterday. Muslim and Arab student groups and the interfaith Middle East Sustained Dialogue Group co-sponsored a screening of Obsession (: Radical Islam’s War Against the West), a film about the threat of Radical Islam to Western civilization. The movie was shown at other universities with a different angle/agenda by the Hasbara Fellowships, a division of Aish International. At NYU, however, Muslim and Jewish students are engage in active dialog. Viewers of both faiths rejected the movie and bashed its portrayal of Muslim extremism. In return Hasbara said they, particularly the Jewish students are in denial. I leave it at that. I am just happy that the screening was co-sponsored and it stood as “a testament to our strength as a community.”
