I was looking for some light comedy, so I picked The Brothers Solomon that seemed to fit the bill as its IMDB description read, “a pair of well-meaning, but socially inept brothers try to find their perfect mates in order to provide their dying father with a grandchild.” What I forgot was how painful for me to watch social ineptitude. Every time they got into a situation, where they behaved socially embarrassing way I wanted to yell at the, don’t do that. There are different ways of playing with this kind of humor. Robin Williams does it in a way usually that evokes sympathy for all parties involved. In this movie though it was just plain painful s the characters were not innocent. They had wants and needs that they strived for in their (sorry) stupid, ways. I like comedies that are sweeter than this. It was colorful enough and I vetoed enough interest in the story at the beginning that I endured till the end to know how they end it, but would not want to see it again. I imagine within a few weeks I will totally forget about it. And I won’t mind that.
