In Forestville California, there is a tradition of lighting the communal Christmas tree at the village’s center. This is accompanied of the singing by a segment of the local high school choir, eating sweets provided by community members and a Santa Claus greeting the little ones. This year all of it happened on November 25, Sunday. See the video below. The cookies were great, particularly what the chefs of the new restaurant in town, Backyard, brought over. Just like last year the Sonoma County Book Mobile showed up. We scored two free books from them. Rudy Rucker‘s Postsingular is for me and Wendy Kesselman’s Emma is for my daughter.
